IFC’s Disruptive Technologies, Funds and Services department (CSF) supports high-potential tech companies through ecosystem building, venture investments, and advisory services. CSF implements Market Entry and Expansion project (MEEP), which assists tech companies in expanding into emerging markets or new sectors. IFC is collaborating with an energy management services (EMS) start-up, which helps clients manage energy efficiently using its proprietary EMS solution. This start-up, already active in Tunisia and France, is expanding into Morocco with a new head office in Casablanca. To support this expansion, IFC seeks an experienced Business Engineer to assist the start-up’s business scale-up and client acquisition efforts in Morocco.
Duties and Responsibilities
Market analytics:
• Conduct market analysis across sectors (aeronautics, hospitality, pharmaceuticals, retail, telecommunications, textiles).
• Provide sector overviews, including market dynamics, size, energy consumption, key players, potential growth, and regulatory considerations.
Client acquisition:
• Recommend entry points based on market knowledge and client capabilities, considering industry verticals, customer segments, specific clients, distribution channels, and business models.
• Develop an expansion roadmap and target client list based on feedback, including a stakeholder engagement strategy.
• Facilitate introductions to key decision-makers, government agencies, and stakeholders.
• Identify and set sales appointments with target clients.
• Conduct technical visits to customers.
• Participate in networking events and trade shows.
• Maintain a prospect and customer database in the customer relationship management (CRM) tool.
Selection Criteria
• Diploma in engineering, energy management, or business equivalent.
• Experience in Morocco with clients on energy efficiency or market growth plans (minimum 2 years).
• Understanding of Morocco's business environment and market. Knowledge of EMS and/or Internet of Things (IoT) technology and business models is a plus.
• Project management and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills: in French (required full proficiency), Arabic (proficient), and English (proficient).
• Independent and a team player. Effective interpersonal skills, team-oriented, self-starter, and strategic alignment. Sensitivity to multicultural environment, commitment to diversity, and relationship-building.
•Experience with CRM tools is a plus.

The assignment is expected to begin in August 2025 with an estimated 60 days of work and a contract ending date of December 2025. The consultant needs to be based in Morocco. Based on the consultant’s performance, business needs and funding availability, the assignment could be extended.
