Role overview : Within the framework of vehicle and GMP subsystem component development, the Design Release Engineer is responsible for planning and overseeing the development process. This role ensures adherence to technical and purchasing policies while driving design justification, integration, and validation of components in line with project requirements.
What You’ll Do :
* Development Planning: Organize the development schedule for components under their responsibility.
* Policy Implementation: Apply technical and purchasing policies (PTA), carry-over strategies, and patent considerations.
* Feasibility & Justification: Confirm the technical feasibility of projects and justify designs by preparing comprehensive design and justification dossiers.
* Technical Specifications: Develop technical specifications based on allocated requirements.
* Requirements Definition: Define the requirements (CDC), initiate supplier consultations on FNRs with Purchasing (DA), and conduct the RCT.
* Design Documentation: Oversee the preparation of plans (3D, 2D, and dimension chains) for DFE and OCM.
* Supplier Coordination: Monitor supplier activities by applying MRF/APQP processes.
* Compliance & Quality: Determine the necessary compliance criteria (e.g., Part Control Plan) and ensure deliverable quality through technical reviews and application of the A3C process.
* Integration & Validation: Manage the integration and validation of components within the GMP subsystem by preparing the Integration Validation dossier.
* Issue Management: Address technical issues such as defects and manage modifications.
* Team Leadership: Lead the multi-disciplinary component design team (as delegated by the RGCC).
What you'll bring :
* Proven experience in design release engineering or a similar role, particularly within vehicle or subsystem component development.
* Strong planning and organizational skills to effectively schedule and oversee the development process.
* In-depth knowledge of technical and purchasing policies (PTA), carry-over strategies, and patent considerations.
* Demonstrated ability to develop technical specifications, define requirements (CDC), and prepare comprehensive design and justification dossiers.
* Experience in managing supplier consultations and applying processes such as MRF/APQP to monitor supplier activities.
* Proficiency in design documentation, including 3D/2D drafting and dimensioning, as well as in managing integration and validation processes.
Soft skills :
* Excellent team leadership and project management skills, with a track record of coordinating multi-disciplinary design teams and resolving technical issues.
* Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
