SIT Morocco operates a cutting-edge Ceratite sterile male production center in Ait Melloul, Agadir, dedicated to protecting Morocco's critical citrus industry. Using the environmentally sustainable Sterile Insect Technique (SIT), the facility combats the Mediterranean fruit fly, a major pest to citrus crops. Backed by a $6.4 million investment from the Moroccan Ministry of Agriculture with support from IAEA and ONSSA, the center can produce and release up to 130 million sterile male flies per week. These efforts protect 180,000 hectares of citrus orchards in the Sous-Massa region and contribute to sustainable agricultural practices in Morocco.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Quality Control role based in Agadir, Morocco, dedicated to ensuring the efficacy and standards of SIT production processes. Responsibilities include monitoring production processes, inspecting and evaluating the quality of sterile insect batches, maintaining compliance with quality standards, and documenting reports to ensure operational excellence. The role also involves identifying and resolving quality issues and implementing improvements for efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications
* Proficiency in quality control processes such as monitoring, inspecting, and auditing production procedures
* Technical proficiency in relevant lab practices, data collection, and analysis
* Understanding of biological and environmental sustainability concepts and practices
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
* Effective communication and reporting capabilities
* A background in biology, agriculture science, or a related field; bachelor's degree preferred
* Prior experience in a quality control role is an advantage
