The Manager, Reservoir Engineering reports directly to the Senior Manager, Subsurface and is responsible for providing leadership and management of all reservoir engineering activities within Hibiscus Malaysia’s operated assets. The role plays a key part in ensuring that all reservoir evaluations, studies, and models are technically robust, compliant with regulatory standards, and aligned with industry best practices. This position requires strong integration with other subsurface disciplines to optimize field development and well planning, as well as active engagement with joint venture partners and regulatory bodies. The incumbent will drive the application of advanced technologies and workflows to maximize economic recovery, manage reserves, production forecasts, and subsurface project performance, contributing directly to the company’s overall asset value and production objectives.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES


* Lead and mentor the Reservoir Engineering team, leveraging technical expertise to optimize field recovery, identify new opportunities, and ensure delivery of technically sound evaluations and modeling studies.
* Oversee the implementation of reservoir management plans (RMP), ensuring all evaluations, modeling, and reserves assessments comply with company and regulatory standards.
* Evaluate and manage subsurface studies to enhance production and recovery through infill drilling, GCBD, and production optimization opportunities.
* Promote the application of advanced reservoir engineering technologies, workflows, and best practices to improve asset performance and operational efficiency.
* Ensure effective integration and utilization of subsurface data across multi-disciplinary teams for exploration, field development, and well planning activities.
* Coordinate with the Drilling team to ensure safe, efficient, and technically sound execution of exploration and development drilling campaigns.
* Monitor and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, Work Program and Budget (WPB) commitments, and minimum work and financial obligations.
* Manage stakeholder expectations by ensuring timely submission of high-quality reports, presentations, and technical documentation that meet internal and external standards.
* Provide technical input and guidance for new venture assessments, including reservoir evaluation, data review, and feasibility analysis to support business development opportunities.
* Mentor and develop staff through regular coaching, performance appraisals, and implementation of development plans to strengthen technical capabilities and leadership within the team.
* Ensure all team members receive required training, certifications, and career growth support while fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
* Support both internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination and business continuity across subsurface and technical functions.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS


* Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Reservoir Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or equivalent qualification from a recognized university or academic institution.
* Minimum of 25 years of experience in petroleum exploration, appraisal, and field development, with progressively increasing levels of technical and leadership responsibilities.
* Demonstrated expertise in reservoir and petroleum engineering, including surveillance, studies, and production optimization.
* Proficient in seismic interpretation, petroleum systems analysis, structural geology (both extensional and compressional regimes), fault-seal analysis, sequence stratigraphy, 3D reservoir modeling, petrophysical analysis, and offshore drilling/platform operations.
* Extensive knowledge of 3D dynamic reservoir modeling (including PVT, SCAL, history matching, prediction, uncertainty, and optimization sensitivity).
* Strong understanding of analytical methods for reserves estimation and opportunity generation for field development and exploration activities.
* Proven ability to integrate multidisciplinary subsurface data to assess risks and support field development planning.
* Familiar with farm-in/farm-out processes and their implications on company interests.
* Possesses sound knowledge of economics, commercial evaluations, and business acumen related to petroleum project development.
* Experienced in stakeholder management, reporting, and governance processes to ensure timely delivery of technical and regulatory requirements.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage the reservoir engineering team and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
* Passionate about mentoring and developing junior staff, fostering technical excellence and continuous learning.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts effectively.
* Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) or equivalent professional body.
* PETRONAS Reserves & Resources Management System (PRrMS) certification preferred for reserves reporting compliance.
