The Role

Role Overview

We are currently seeking Forensic Document Examiners with regional expertise across Africa to support our legal and human rights work. This is a remote, freelance opportunity ideal for professionals with a background in forensic science and document analysis.

Key Responsibilities

* Examine and analyze official documents for authenticity and consistency
* Prepare professional written opinions and reports suitable for legal proceedings
* Provide expert commentary and insight into document formats, issuance processes, and potential irregularities in your country(ies) of expertise
* Assess authenticity, detect forgery or tampering, and produce clear written expert reports
* Analyze official documents such as passports, ID cards, civil records, certificates, and legal documents
* Collaborate with legal teams, researchers, and expert networks on a case-by-case basis

Ideal Profile

* Formal training or certification in forensic document examination
* Proven experience handling or analyzing official documents from one or more countries in Africa
* Strong analytical and report writing skills
* Familiarity with legal, immigration, or asylum-related documentation a plus
* Availability to work on a flexible, freelance basis
