Elementary French Teacher

Position: Elementary French Teacher (Full Time)

Reports to: Elementary School Principal

Starting Salary: Competitive and based on the offered candidate's experience and qualifications.

The purpose:

Rabat American School is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Elementary French  Teacher. In this role, the Elementary French Teacher will be responsible for instructing French as a language acquisition course and French as a native language course separately to students in grades 1 through 5, following the American Education Reaches Out (AERO) standards. Additionally, the teacher will collaborate with the other World Language teachers and the wider Elementary School team to deliver a comprehensive educational program within a positive, safe, and stimulating environment. The primary objective is to foster the intellectual curiosity, self-esteem, and dignity of our students.

Responsibilities & Duties:

* Meet or exceed the performance criteria outlined in the RAS Faculty Handbook
* Implement the school’s Mission, Philosophy, and Strategic Objectives as well as the specific objectives in the French curricula (language acquisition and native courses)
* Remain informed of school developments and policy by reading school publications, website(s), and attending meetings
* Work closely with colleagues to plan cooperatively, develop curricula, and maintain a positive, professional school climate
* Develop lesson plans, use a variety of instructional strategies, and incorporate a variety of assessment techniques designed to meet the goals and objectives of the school’s program and adopted curricula
* Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress and classroom information through
* parent conferences and report cards
* class/teacher newsletters
* phone calls and emails
* Encourage parent involvement in school programs, activities, and the classroom
* Provide regular feedback to and guidance for students
* Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and committee meetings as appropriate or appointed
* Actively and cooperatively participate in the teacher’s Professional Growth and Evaluation process
* Establish and maintain positive, cooperative, and productive relationships with other members of the faculty, staff, administration, and RAS community
* Perform other duties as assigned and outlined in the Faculty Handbook and/or school policies

Qualifications required:

* BA or BS degree or equivalent; (MA, MS or M.Ed. preferred)
* Teaching credential or qualification
* 2 years of teaching experience at the elementary school level
* International teaching experience preferred
* Experience with teaching French as a language acquisition course and as a native language course
* English language proficiency.
