Position Overview
The customs specialist is responsible to ensure compliance with all customs regulations in Morocco for Lear Meknes, in close collaboration with the plant customs coordinator, plant customs agent, and Morocco customs manager. He will be the focal point for all customs topics of Lear Meknes with the different stakeholders (internal functions, customs brokers, freight forwarders, and external official departments).
Key Responsibilities
* Follow up on import & clearance process
* Audit export & Import clearance documentation to ensure alignment with the process and information shared with the broker.
* Ensure packaging material is declared correctly during import and export.
* Ensure the right customs classification: HS code alignment between the broker and Lear Meknes and between import and export transactions.
* Ensure harmonization of units of measures between the broker and Lear Meknes during import/export and discharge process.
* Controlling the data declared by the broker with the documents shared by the plant, for discharge, inbound, and outbound processes.
* Audit of the records and labeling of the equipments with the customs agent and FA responsible.
* Ensure all required documentations/certifications required for customs clearance are prepared/available according to the business model, as required.
* Ensure all scrap data is shared (e.g. rates) and updated with the customs brokers on regular basis.
* Communicate to the warehouse team the available scrap quantity/weight that can be evacuated during the month, based on the monthly scrap reconciliation, and the result from the discharge draft.
* Ensure use of correct customs procedure
* Ensure recovery of any customs duties (declarations by consignment…);
* Ensure retrospective preferential origin claims as applicable
* Co-Define and follow with the customs coordinator the customs Key Performance indicators for the plant.
Key Skills And Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in International Business, International trade and customs, Logistics or Operational Management.
* 1 year of relevant experience, ideally as an employee of the customs authority, a customs broker, or customs consultant.
* Previous experience on managing in a multinational company would be beneficial.
* Ability to maintain the compliance policy of the department, and the company.
* Ability to demonstrate Logical, Structured, Proactive and Objective approach.
* Proficiency in using Microsoft office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, ..)
* Knowledge of European import/export regimes would be beneficial.
* Proficiency in both English & French languages, spoken and written
