Job Description: Senior Manager – Commercial Finance

Role Overview
The Senior Manager – Commercial Finance is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving financial performance, commercial decision support, and business partnering across a high-volume, import-driven commodity trading business. This role ensures robust financial planning, accurate costing, and insightful analysis to support short-term profitability and long-term strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities
* Commercial Decision Support & Financial Performance
* Analyze trading positions, landed costs, storage, and sales margins to drive profitability.
* Advise trading and procurement teams on pricing strategies, position sizing, and liquidity.
* Support supplier/customer negotiations with scenario planning and margin modeling.
* Monitor commodity prices, FX exposure, financing costs, and storage expenses.
* Review profitability by commodity, region, and customer segment to guide capital allocation.
* Assess and mitigate risks related to market volatility, financing, and inventory valuation.
* Financial Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting
* Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecasts, integrating import pipelines and market demand.
* Develop working capital forecasts linked to stockholdings and supplier terms.
* Conduct scenario analysis for bulk imports, factoring in FX, freight, and local margins.
* Strategic Financial Governance & Control
* Implement governance around position-taking, landed cost tracking, and exposure management.
* Validate procurement deals and supplier terms to ensure disciplined capital use.
* Lead costing activities to support competitive and profitable pricing.
* Optimize working capital through structured financing and inventory management.
* Costing & Pricing Support
* Build costing models for imported commodities including freight, insurance, port charges, and financing.
* Provide accurate landed cost calculations for pricing decisions.
* Design dynamic pricing strategies aligned with market movements and customer demand.
* Conduct sensitivity analysis on key cost drivers and benchmark pricing against competitors.
* Performance Monitoring & Reporting
* Develop dashboards to track import positions, P&L impact, and liquidity usage.
* Deliver timely reports on margin performance, stock valuation, and working capital.
* Benchmark performance against regional agro-trading peers.
* Team Development & Leadership
* Coach finance teams on cost modeling, margin tracking, and risk analysis.
* Enhance commercial acumen across procurement and sales teams.
Decision-Making & Budgetary Responsibilities
* Make strategic financial decisions to support profitability and capital allocation.
* Provide input on bulk purchases, supplier negotiations, and financing structures.
* Oversee budgeting and forecasting aligned with strategic objectives.
* Validate major procurement and expenditure commitments through financial review.
Required
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field.
* CPA / CA / ACCA qualification.
* Minimum 8 years of experience in commercial finance, preferably in agro-commodity trading.
* Strong analytical skills and business partnering experience.
* Proficiency in SAP, Excel, PowerPoint, and BI tools.
* Solid understanding of P&L and balance sheet structures.
* Excellent English communication skills.
Preferred
* Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent).
* Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle).
* Exposure to strategic planning and capital investment analysis.
