ASM is accepting applications for the position of Psychologist / Guidance Counselor with a start date of September 1st, 2025.

PROFILE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

-Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is preferred

-Extensive elementary and/or secondary classroom experience

-Previous experience as a Psychologist / Guidance Counselor

-Ability and personality necessary to work effectively with colleagues, students, parents, and other community members.

-Positive, approachable, reflective, empathetic, flexible, adapting to new situations


RESPONSIBILITIES:


The Psychologist / Guidance Counselor is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive counseling program that is focused on students’ social and emotional development.


Responsibilities include:

-Assist all students, individually, in groups or during guidance classes in the areas of academic and career planning and in personal/social development in accordance with planned objectives for grade level.

-Provide individual and group counseling to motivate all students to engage in, and take an active role in their personal and educational development, giving special attention to students with identified needs or concerns.

-Use assessment procedures for determining and structuring individual and group counseling services.

-Interpret tests, student data and other assessment results appropriately.

-Implement referral and follow-up processes as needed.

-Prepare written reports as needed, and keep complete records.

-Provide appropriate information to, and consult with parents, teachers, administrators and other related professionals regarding all students, specifically those with identified needs and concerns.

-Coordinate counseling programs with teachers and parents to assist students in making a smooth transition from elementary to middle school.

-Conduct or facilitate professional development workshops for teachers, parents and administrators on identifying and assisting at-risk students.

-Act in compliance with laws, policies, procedures and ethical standards of the school counseling profession.

-Conduct a yearly audit to review the effectiveness of the Guidance program.

-Participate in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills.
