JHC Consulting provides external challenge to senior corporate leaders, boards, and chief executives. We are currently supporting a regional financial services group through a period of structural review and strategy assessment. In this context, the Junior Project Manager ensures that our internal timelines and the rigorous scrutiny of our written work remain consistent with our firm standards. This is an entry level role designed for an individual who is organized, disciplined, and comfortable with a culture that prioritizes long form writing over verbal meetings.

The Role
In this role, you will coordinate the lifecycle of a project, which we refer to as a mandate. This involves tracking the progress of specific memoranda from the initial reading phase through to the final signed document. You will support our principals by ensuring that all internal deadlines for drafting and revision are met. Your daily work involves the following:

  • Organizing research materials and internal documentation for the regional financial services group mandate.

  • Managing the calendar for internal peer reviews and revision cycles for every written memorandum.

  • Coordinating logistics for remote board meetings and executive briefings between our principals and client leadership.

  • Ensuring that every document produced by the firm follows our strict formatting and citation standards.

  • Monitoring the timeline of deliverables to ensure that our counsel is provided when it is most needed by the board.

  • Maintaining the archives of signed memoranda and ensuring that the internal record of our advice is complete and secure.

  • Providing administrative support to the principals during the high intensity phases of a strategic review.

What You Bring
We do not require a specific degree or a long professional background. We look for individuals who demonstrate intellectual maturity and a high degree of organization. This position is suitable for a recent graduate or someone early in their career who prefers a quiet, focused work style. Some specific qualities we value include:

  • A strong grasp of the English language and a preference for clear, direct writing.

  • The ability to organize complex schedules and track multiple moving parts without constant supervision.

  • Curiosity about corporate governance, strategy, and how large organizations make decisions.

  • A disciplined approach to work where the quality of the final product is the primary measure of success.

  • Comfort working in a fully remote environment which requires proactive communication and self management.

  • The capacity to handle sensitive information with a high level of discretion and professional conduct.

  • Basic familiarity with administrative software and a willingness to learn our specific document management protocols.

How We Work
JHC Consulting is built on the belief that writing is thinking. We do not use slide decks or presentations to communicate our findings. Instead, every engagement results in a signed memorandum. This practice requires a different kind of project management than a typical consulting firm. We focus on the discipline of the written word and the clarity of the argument. You will be part of a small team where every person is responsible for the integrity of the firm's output. Because our work is often used as a formal record by boards of directors, we maintain a high standard for every page we produce.

Working at JHC Consulting
Our firm is small by design and operates as a fully remote practice. This allows us to focus entirely on the quality of our thinking rather than the overhead of a traditional office. We offer a professional environment where autonomy is respected and expected. The Junior Project Manager is a full time, permanent position. The role is paid and the compensation is competitive for an entry level advisory position. You will have the opportunity to see how high level strategic counsel is formulated and delivered to heads of industry. We provide the tools you need to succeed in a remote setting and offer a workplace that values quiet concentration and intellectual rigor.
The work at JHC Consulting is defined by individual accountability. Every memorandum is a record of our counsel that may be held on file by a board of directors for many years. As a Junior Project Manager, you support the internal structure that makes this level of scrutiny possible. We offer a professional setting where the focus remains on the quality of the written argument and the integrity of the advice provided to our clients. Your support ensures that our principals can remain focused on the analysis and reading required to serve our clients effectively.
