Job Overview
The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire operations of the factory, ensuring efficient production, high-quality output, and profitability. The GM will lead teams, manage resources, and drive strategic initiatives to meet business objectives, maintain compliance with industry standards, and foster a culture of excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management:
* Oversee daily operations of the factory, including production, quality control, inventory, and logistics.
* Ensure production targets are met on time while maintaining quality standards.
* Optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Leadership and Team Management:
* Lead, mentor, and motivate a diverse team, including production supervisors, quality assurance staff, and administrative personnel.
* Foster a positive and safe working environment, promoting teamwork and accountability.
* Conduct performance evaluations and provide training opportunities for staff development.
Financial Oversight:
* Develop and manage budgets, controlling costs while ensuring resource availability.
* Monitor financial performance, including revenue, expenses, and profitability metrics.
* Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising product quality.
Strategic Planning:
* Develop and execute long-term strategies to enhance factory productivity and market competitiveness.
* Identify opportunities for expansion, new product lines, or process improvements.
* Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, clients, and stakeholders.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
* Ensure compliance with local labor laws, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
* Oversee quality control processes to meet client specifications and industry standards.
* Implement and maintain certifications (e.g., ISO, WRAP, or other relevant standards).
Supply Chain and Vendor Management:
* Manage procurement of raw materials and negotiate contracts with suppliers.
* Coordinate with logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of goods to clients.
* Maintain strong relationships with vendors to secure reliable supply chains.
Reporting and Communication:
* Provide regular reports on operational performance, financial metrics, and strategic initiatives to senior management.
* Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including employees, clients, and external partners.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Textile Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
* Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the garment or textile industry.
* Proven track record of managing large teams and driving operational success.
* Strong understanding of garment production processes, quality control, and supply chain management.
* Excellent financial acumen with experience in budgeting and cost control.
* Knowledge of industry-specific regulations, safety standards, and certifications.
* Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing market demands.
