Role Overview:
The Country Retail Manager drives operational excellence across all in-country stores by ensuring standardised processes, automation, and compliance. This role ensures high-quality store operations, supports openings/closures, owns key customer care touchpoints, and collaborates with relevant teams to deliver a seamless retail experience.
What you will do:
Strategy & Market Analysis:
* Accountable to Manage and Optimize the daily operations of the retail stores by ensuring full compliance of Retail and Brand operating standards
* Support group retail managers with collating market trends to define sales objectives
* Responsible to attend bi-weekly trade calls and provide concise reporting on store productivity and cascading action points on areas for improvement agreed with group retail managers
* Responsible to provide regular input to brand on productivity, current practices and proposed improvements
* Responsible for ensuring that customer feedback is provided to group retail managers
* Accountable for conducting regular store visits collaboratively with banner and in-season traders and providing findings to group
Commercial:
* Ensure that store managers are aware of store visits by the Brand
* Adhere to Brand guidelines and collection planning, as per brand guidelines and instruction cascaded by brand/ banner
Brand Development and Coordination:
* Accountable for the consistent execution of operating standards in line with brand guidelines and company policies
* Responsible for informing stores of, and driving, targeted KPIs (Sales, UPT, Conversion rates etc.)
Product Management:
* Collaboratively with Store Managers communicate feedback on customer buying trends and missed opportunities to Brand
* Input feedback on pricing strategy
* Input feedback to promotion and discount strategy and is accountable to implement same strategy
* Consult on inventory management
Budget Management:
* Accountable to adhere to the allocated budget for the stores such as sales, payroll and operational costs
Team & Performance Management:
* Responsible/ Inputs the implementation of action plans following mystery shopper reports and communicating all results and action plan follow ups to Banner
* Identifies and ensures implementation of training needs for direct reports and delivers training on service and monitor customer service and operational training
* Collaboratively recruit, coach and oversee Store Managers with guidance of country brand/banner manager and adhere to headcount allocation
* Accountable for the approval of store rosters and timesheets, including ensuring that all vacation leave is consumed by end of year
* Responsible for ensuring that VM guidelines cascaded from the brand/ VM are implemented on the shop floor
* Carries out performance management for direct reports
Customer Care:
* Accountable for upholding customer service standards
Health & Safety:
* Accountable for remedying any maintenance or security reports coming through from the stores
How you will be measured:
Financial Targets
* Sales and direct store expenditure (manning, consumables, etc)
* Retail KPIs – Sales, UPT, Conversion rates
* Stock loss – in line with company defined stock loss allowance of 0.7%
* Store productivity – sales per person per hour
* Effective inventory management
Team Performance and Development
* Quarterly performance check-ins with team to review progress on objectives and redirect activities, as needed
* Identifying training and development needs of the commercial team and defining development plans, in collaboration with HR
Stakeholder Engagement
* Effective collaboration with Group Retail Managers to ensure banner/brand strategies are effectively rolled out in local markets
* Customer satisfaction measured through mystery shopping program and NPS scores >90%
* Ensure timely delivery of visual merchandise material to each store, in collaboration with Group Visual Merchandiser, as measured through periodic feedback from Group VM
* Overseeing Marketing execution in country as defined and agreed with Group Marketing Manager

What you will bring to the role:
* 5+ years of experience in retail operations management or multi-site operational roles
* Proven experience managing store support processes including staffing, inventory, and customer care
* Ability to implement and optimise operational tools and automation
* Strong knowledge of operational standards, compliance, and systems integration
* Experience managing store openings, relocations and operational logistics
* Fluency in English; additional languages are an advantage
