Role Overview :
🎯 Mission
As a Chief Engineer, you are responsible for leading a subsystem (e.g., internal combustion engine, gearbox, battery, electric motor, etc.) and ensuring alignment with customer expectations and performance targets.
You arbitrate technical trade-offs within your subsystem and ensure consistency with the overall system requirements.
Working closely with the Family Manager within the PRS framework, you are accountable for achieving project objectives in terms of:
* Quality
* Cost
* Delivery
* Performance (QCDP)
🔧 Key Activities
Within your assigned subsystem scope, you will:
* Identify and consolidate requirements from all stakeholders (vehicle teams, generic projects, upstream phases).
* Propose QCDP-related decisions to the System Chief Engineer and communicate them to management and partners.
* Approve the technical definition and specifications at each development phase (virtual models, physical prototypes).
* Ensure alignment with make-or-buy strategies (suppliers vs internal industrialization).
* Lead engineering change management processes.
* Approve changes to the Bill of Materials (BOM).
* Monitor and optimize the performance of the design, verification, and validation process (efficiency, timing, cost control).
👥 Responsibilities
Within the subsystem perimeter, you will:
* Define and organize the project team structure (functional and operational members) in coordination with the Family Manager.
* Propose the best techno-economic orientations, especially:
* Trade-offs between different components
* Technical definitions and design evolutions across project phases
* Ensure compliance with QCDP objectives aligned with the project framework.
* Guarantee achievement of project milestones.
* Ensure adherence to standards, best practices, and engineering guidelines.
