* Context and Objectives
As part of the project "Redesign of extraction methods for improving phosphate quality", we are hiring a postdoctoral researcher to work on rethinking extraction methods at one of OCP Group’s production sites. The project will rely on Operations Research and Machine Learning approaches.
The objective is to redesign the extraction methods by considering their impact on product quality, quantity, cost, and lead time. The study will take into account the technical and operational specificities of a newly commissioned washing plant designed to upgrade the extracted ore.
The ultimate goal is to maximize the quality of the phosphate output from the plant while improving the overall efficiency of the extraction and beneficiation system. This work will require an understanding of mining processes, mathematical modeling of flows and extraction decisions, and the use of machine learning algorithms to predict ore quality and optimize operational decisions.
* Key Responsibilities
The Selected Candidate Will Be Responsible For
* Analyzing mining extraction processes and their interaction with the new washing plant.
* Redesigning extraction methods in accordance with operational constraints.
* Applying Operations Research techniques to support the selection among predefined extraction methods.
* Developing and using Machine Learning models for quality prediction and control of phosphate ore.
* Simulating and evaluating various extraction scenarios, considering industrial constraints.
* Collaborating closely with field and operational teams to integrate proposed solutions.
* Conducting literature reviews and contributing to scientific reports and publications.
* Candidate Profile
* PhD in Mining Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Data Science, or a related field.
* Advanced expertise in Operations Research.
* Strong skills in Machine Learning.
* Practical experience in mining or industrial environments (through projects, thesis, or postdoctoral work).
* Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
