Scope of Work – Site Survey (IT Infrastructure)

Job Title: Site Survey Engineer

Objective

Conduct a comprehensive onsite survey to assess the existing IT infrastructure and site readiness for the planned installation, upgrade, or maintenance activity. The engineer is responsible for collecting accurate technical information, identifying potential risks, and documenting all findings for project planning.

Scope of Work

• Check in with the onsite customer/contact person and review the survey requirements.

• Perform a physical inspection of the installation location.

• Assess the existing IT infrastructure, including:

• Network cabinets/racks

• Switches, routers, and firewalls

• Wireless Access Points (if applicable)

• Servers and storage (if applicable)

• Verify the availability and condition of:

• Power outlets and UPS

• Network connectivity and patch panels

• Internet/WAN connections

• Grounding/Earthing

• Record cable routes and estimate cable lengths for new installations.

• Measure rack space and confirm equipment mounting requirements.

• Identify environmental conditions, including:

• Room temperature and ventilation

• Physical accessibility

• Security restrictions

• Health and safety considerations

• Capture clear photographs of:

• Equipment racks

• Network devices

• Cable pathways

• Power distribution

• Installation area

• Document all hardware models, serial numbers (if required), and port availability.

• Verify any prerequisites required before implementation.

• Identify potential risks, constraints, or dependencies that may impact the project.

• Discuss findings with the customer representative before leaving the site.

• Submit a detailed site survey report, including photographs and recommendations.
