Global Research & Strategy is Societe Generale’s Global Cross Asset Research department. With more than 200 analysts, strategists, and economists, it offers in-depth analysis and a distinctive cross-asset approach: impact of major events across asset classes, assessment of the links between asset classes, strategic synthesis to provide an integrated view.
Societe Generale Global Research offers global coverage, thanks to local networks in Eastern Europe (Moscow, Bucharest, Warsaw and Prague), the strengthening of its presence in the US and in Asia (Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo), together with an established UK and Western European base.
The EM strategy team is responsible for providing strategic research and recommendations in emerging and frontier markets’ fixed income and currency products to SG clients, as well as providing a key support function to the FIC business (sales, trading and DCM). All GRS research is published via www.sgmarkets.com. The team is currently geographically split between London / Hong Kong / Singapore / New York / Bangalore/ Casablanca.
As an Emerging Markets Strategist, you will be based in Casablanca, working directly to the EM Research team based in London.
Your key responsibilities will be to :
* Perform extensive analytical work for the team
* Research information on sovereigns, building spreadsheets and analytics
* Put together elements of macro-economic and comparative analyses
* Assist in writing research notes on key developments impacting markets
* Develop an understanding of emerging markets and frontier markets, and of the basics of fixed income and currency products
* Do extensive analytical work for the desk, mainly using Excel, Bloomberg, Macrobond
* Undertake day-to-day support of the team’s internal processes, as well as providing support to colleagues when needed with regards to analytical work and making the team more efficient
You will be initially responsible for day-to-day support of the team and be involved in project-based work while developing an understanding of emerging and frontier markets. Over the medium term, you should become a key contributor to the team’s research output.
Profil :
A background in economics/econometrics/finance as an undergraduate degree is preferred. You should have a proven interest in financial markets/research and in fixed income/macro-economics.
