National UNV assignment - Morocco

Context

UNICEF, established in 1946, works globally to protect and promote the rights and well-being of children, focusing on survival, development, education, and protection. In Morocco—a strategically located and politically stable middle-income country—UNICEF seeks to strengthen child-focused investments amid shifting priorities toward economic development. The Morocco Country Office is implementing a maternal and child health and nutrition project in the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region, targeting improved access to quality services during the first 1,000 days of life. The project integrates a behavioural science component to better understand social and behavioural barriers, generate evidence, and support scalable interventions. The UNV Specialist in Applied Behavioural Sciences will support this component under the SBC Specialist, contributing to both the project and broader UNICEF Morocco programming.

Description of duties

• Support coordination and implementation of behavioural research and experiments with partners.

• Contribute to the design and testing of behavioural interventions addressing health, nutrition, and related challenges.

• Review research protocols, tools, materials, and technical outputs, ensuring quality and relevance.

• Analyse and interpret behavioural data and translate findings into actionable programmatic recommendations.

• Document lessons learned, good practices, and key findings for knowledge sharing.

• Support capacity-building activities, workshops, and development of behavioural science tools and processes.

• Produce briefs, reports, and presentations, and facilitate knowledge dissemination among stakeholders.

• Provide operational, monitoring, and administrative support to SBC programme activities.

Profile requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in behavioural sciences, public health, social sciences, or related field.

• Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in behavioural science, SBC, research, or programme support.

• Demonstrated knowledge of behavioural insights, research methods, and evidence generation.

• Experience in designing or supporting behavioural experiments and reviewing technical materials is an asset.

• Strong analytical, coordination, facilitation, and reporting skills.

• Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and diverse stakeholders.

• Fluency in Arabic, French, and English required.

Benefits:

1. Pre-Assignment Entry Lump Sum: USD 350 Relocation Allowance: USD 175 at the beginning and end of the assignment, provided the duty station is outside commuting distance, as determined by UNV.

2. During the Assignment Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA): MAD 13,179.16 per month. Learning and Training: Access to UNV learning and career development resources. Annual Leave: 2.5 days per month. Insurance: Comprehensive coverage for health, life, and malicious acts for the UN Volunteer, as well as health insurance coverage for up to three eligible dependents. 3. End of Assignment Exit Lump Sum: USD 120 for each month served, payable upon the successful completion of the assignment and contract.
